My name is Pari Mijar. I am now 13 years old. I have 4 members (my Mother, two elder brothers and me) in my family. My mother’s name is Chandra Maya Mijar and my father died when I was 7 years old. My permanent home address is Sarlahi, Rajghat-3. Later, I along moved to the Dhading with my parents and family in search of work.
My parents got the job in a stone quarry where they collect stones and carry them to the Bank and crush it into small pieces. It was really a physical tough job to do in a daily life. Furthermore the wages they get was not sufficient for us. That is why I started to do the same job with my parents to support, when I was early 6. Before coming to the hostel, I haven’t been to a school.
My daily routine was like wake up early in the morning, start work at 9am to till 5pm at the quarry. Beside that, I had to do household jobs. During that time, I used to earning 40-45Rs daily and the earnings was not sufficient though had to work for small support for my parents. My Job was difficult and physically tough as well. I often suffered from health problems such as: - fever, cough, muscles pain, cuts and injuries.
It was difficult for us to arrange food everyday. Due to the reason, sometimes, we would have to be satisfied with ‘Khole’(i.e. food prepared by pouring some flour of beaten rice in boiled water and stirring it) . After the work was over, we all would lie on floor to spend the night. We did not have basic facilities like drinking water, Electricity and stuffs. We lived in a small plastic hut on the riverbank.
It was common me to being hit by stone and hammer While working there. In this way, Days were passing on. I was completely illiterate and I did not go to the school. One day some people (From Help to Educate Charity) came to the riverbank for interviewing to the children who works at the quarry. I was also interviewed and nearly 3 three months later, they visited again and brought me to the Kathmandu. Now I have been living and studying in the Little Gems Girls Hostel where I got new friends and sisters.
Before I came to the hostel, I knew nothing and thought that the world was only the stone quarry but nothing more. Since I have been rescued, I got an experience of a new life here. Life has been changed completely. I started learning English language. I am very happy being in Little Gems Girls Hostel and going to a school. There are many friends in my hostel. They all have had pretty much same situation in their lives.
I got new friends and sisters who really care for me. I got many friends in my school. I feel very comfortable here as my home. Now I am studying at Grade 6. I have passed my terminal exam with good marks. I will continue study hard to be a successful. My future aim is to be a Teacher and will definitely help to the children who are really on need. Thank you Help to Educate, sponsor and well wishers for everything.
