Everest Base Camp Trek
In June 2012, we are organising our next sponsored trek to Everest Base Camp next year to raise money towards the rent of Little Gems Girls Hostel and you are all invited to join us!
The hostel building is essential to the work that we do in Nepal. Without it, we are unable to provide a loving and caring home for the girls to live and study. Due to the rising costs of living, we are unable to meet the cost of rent out of our regular monthly donations. As a result, the aim of this sponsored trek is to ensure the long term future of the project.
This is a wonderful opportunity to experience adventure, help former child labourers and have lots of fun along the way!
A journey to Everest is something that many of us see as a lifetime goal. This trip allows you to fulfill that dream by trekking to the Base Camp of Everest on an imaginative itinerary that allows you to explore the Chukung Valley whilst acclimatising en route to the famous Everest Base Camp and viewing peak of Kala Patthar. You will be surrounded by the giants of the Himalaya and experience something of the mystical spirit of this Buddhist region. Sherpa culture, mountain flora, the Khumbu Icefall, and soaring peaks will contribute to a trip full of cherished memories.
On the last day of the trip, you will be invited to visit the stone quarry where many of the children come from and to visit Little Gems Hostel where the girls live. This is to allow you to see the impact of our work in Nepal, see the dramatic difference we make to each girls life and know that your fundraising efforts are being well spent.
At the end of it all, expect a big farewall party and lots of Tika from our hostel in Nepal!
The Trek is being organised by our partner The Responsible Travellers. The total cost of the trek is £1700 (50% of this is a donation) The dates are set for 17th June to 4th July. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you have.
