Teach in Nepal
Our aim is to support the education of needy children in Nepal by arranging for volunteers to teach in a village school and hostel. We want you to volunteer where you are needed most and so we have identified village schools that need your support.
In Nepal it is difficult to get a well-paid job without speaking English. As a result, there is a tremendous pressure for children to learn English and intense competition between schools to demonstrate that they can offer English as a medium of study.
What can I do?
You don’t have to be a teacher to participate and enjoy teaching in Nepal with Help to Educate. We want you to teach in a local village school and our hostel, Little Gems, where your spoken English will benefit children who would otherwise have no regular contact with an English language speaker.

From the moment you arrive to the day you depart, we want you to experience the wonderful hospitality of the Nepali people, not as a tourist but as a guest in the local community.
In return, we want you to donate around 18 hours a week of your time to teaching and helping students practice their conversational English in a village school and our hostel.
What can I teach?
You can teach English, Science, Maths or Computing in your local school and hostel. You can either teach one subject or teach multiple subjects depending on your own skills and experiences.
In school you will be teaching in a class room and in the hostel you will mostly be helping the children with their homework. The volunteer week begins on Monday and ends on Friday with holiday on Saturday and Sunday. We ask volunteers to teach a minimum of 3 lessons per day in school and to help in the hostel for 2 hours each day.
