One laptop per child (well, almost!)

First of all, we would like to thank from our hearts to Sue Sharrock and friends, Peter Jeffrey sir, Lee and friends from MSI Wind Net and Help to Educate volunteers for raising money for the new computers.

Due to your efforts, help and support brought us opportunities to have our own laptop computers and learn IT properly. It is our great opportunity.

Before we have laptop computers, we never get opportunity to use computers so much.

Now 5 laptops are using by older sisters Nisha, Rita, Kalisha, Binita & Gita and we 10 younger students share 1 between 2.

These all laptops were brought by Ian sir from England. He gave as present on his first day in Nepal. It was really surprising and we didn?t think that they were laptops since it is small size and very light in weights. We were very happy and excited to have laptop computers. Now we are using our laptops to learn IT, read and write emails and use internet to more about science, English language and so on.

We would like to give special thank to Sue sharrock (and friends) for organized coffee morning to raise enough money for 2 laptop computers. Similarly we would like to thank Peter sir (former volunteer) as well who donated money for one laptop computer and obviously H2E volunteers who put a very big effort and went door to door for raising money for laptop computers. We would like to thank to all people who are living in Vale of White Horse area (Oxfordshire) who donated money.

Thank you very much!

Everyone knows that computers are very useful and essential for the lives. We are very lucky for having computers. We are learning very well how to use computers. We learnt MS window, excel, email, internet as well. Still there are many more things that are useful for school and for future. In Nepal, computer and English language are very essential for lives because we have very less opportunities for future jobs and it will be very competitive. So we must have to be knowledgeable on using computer programmes.

We have internet facility as well which is wirelessly connected with our laptop computers which also supported us to learn more about computer programmes. Our laptops computer is very light and portable with having wireless internet connected. So we can use and access of internet in room of hostel. So having these facilities with us, it is helping us to learn more about computing and English language.

We visit BBC news, e-kantipur, Nepal news websites to get the latest news about happening in the world. All are possible due to having laptop computers and ADSL wireless internet system in our hostel. Now our typing skills are faster than it was.

We had problem with writing emails to our e-pals and sponsors because only one children computer there in our hostel before and electricity load shedding but now we don?t have such types of problems with that. We are more able to read and write emails to and from e-pals and sponsors.

We like to write and receive emails regular from our sponsors, e-pals and well wishers. Hope all of them also like to write and receive emails from us regular. It also helps to improve our English writing.
