Curtis sir is from Canada. He arrived to our hostel in April 2009 as a volunteer. He used to stay in Ramita and Prem’s house because their houses were supposed to stay for volunteers.
On the first day of his arrival he came to met us in the hostel at 5:30. Our hostel teachers introduced him with us and later on we knew that he was going to stay in Nepal for three months. We also knew that he was so good in computer and English. In his country he used to work in a software company and he was specialized on computer. For some first days of his arrival he went to visit different well known places like Bungamati (which is famous for handicraft, temples and so on), Swayambhu (which is also known as monkey temples) , Bouddha and so on.
He was so helpful, kind and friendly. He helped us in our homework’s, studies and sometimes in our works as well. He came to the hostel regularly to help us and sometimes he played with us too. He used to teach in a government school which we called Adarsha Saul Yubak Higher Secondary School. He taught there Math’s, Science and Computer in the day time and after 4pm he came back to the hostel and gave us guidelines of doing home works. He also helped us in our English language. He encouraged us to speak language so that he always cares on our grammar while we spoke in English with him. And immediately he points out the incorrect words or sentences and taught us the right one.
He only did not help us in studies but also he sometimes taught us different types of games and we played such games with him in our free time. On the back side of our hostel there is a big play ground where we used to play with our friends in our leisure time. Not only we hostel girls play there but also some children from nearby our hostel come to play there. We sometimes play football and rubber band with each other. It is really so exciting games and I hope everybody likes it too.
Curtis sir arrived at 4 pm in the hostel and leaved at 7:30 pm. At that time he took some special computer course for our 5 older sisters like Nisha, Rita, Binita, Kalisha and Gita. He taught them so many things about how to use computer, how to put photo in the computer through Digital camera and so on.
Curtis sir had helped us in our hostel for 2 months and then after he went to visited Pokhara for 1 month. At that time he bought six lovely chairs for the hostel as a gift. He was not only good in studies but also good in making foods.
Once he made Canadian food named as Mass-potato and Pasta which was delicious. He made that food for all the girls and for the staffs. He also made that variety of food for the teachers of Adarsha Saul Yubak Higher Secondary School. On the second last day of Curtis visit to Nepal we took him to Yahoo Restaurant for dinner and we all enjoyed a lot and had dinner together with all the friends, staff and Curtis sir. We fare welled him by giving good wishes and put tika on his forehead as the symbol of good luck and good wishes on the last day of his visit to Nepal..
